This week’s w.o.w. is consistent. Meaning: unchanging in achievement or effect over a period of time.
INTEGRITY
According to Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, INTEGRITY is defined as following definitions:
Full Definition of integrity
-
1: firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibility
-
2: an unimpaired condition : soundness
-
3: the quality or state of being complete or undivided : completeness
This word actually came from one of our students last week. Now let’s see how they define it.
PROTECT
Whom do we protect?
Response: Those that cannot defend themselves. Ourselves. We have value just because we are humans.
If you’d like to learn more about protecting yourself and your loved ones, please join us at the women’s self defense class on Saturday, April 16th. You must register to reserve your spot. Space is limited. More info & register here:
CONFIDENT
Last week’s w.o.w. was HUMBLE. Can confidence and humility go together? I’m looking forward to seeing how the students answer this one.
Knowing that you know what you know. To boldly do and act on the skills and knowledge you have.

HUMBLE
This week’s w.o.w. is humble. What does it mean and why is it important? We’ll talk about it on Thursday at class.
Responses? Not being conceited. Not bragging if you win, and if you lose to not be sore about it.
A lovely summary of what it means to be humble is this: being humble is not thinking less of yourself…it’s thinking of yourself less.
FINISH
What does it mean to finish? Simply put, it means to work through to the end of what you start. The application of that is often more difficult. Life is busy and often derails from our original intentions, but it’s important to finish what we start. Finishing is having tenacity. Finishing is having the discipline to push past the easy part all the way to completion. Finishing is not quitting. Finishing is doing what we say we’ll do; having integrity.
We are starting a new physical goals challenge at Nova. It will require us to finish what we start. What do you need to finish: The path to your next karate belt? Your science fair project? A project at work?
Go get’er done!

TEACHABLE
This week’s word of the week (W.O.W.) was TEACHABLE. One of our students said it best when she defined teachable as being humble enough that you are open to new information and knowledge. I would add that it is also realizing that you don’t know everything, and again, being humble enough to admit someone else might know more than you. You are then receptive to new knowledge and skills.
